Draft horses are our largest horses in existence. Some can stand nearly 19 hands tall and weigh close to 2000 lbs. These large horses were bred centuries ago to do jobs that required incredible feats of strength and it shows in their stature. This week we talk all about draft horses, their history, and what impacts their specialized breeding has had on their nutritional requirements. We also discuss how some draft horses might be prone to PSSM (Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy), how the disease might manifest in a draft horse, and what this means to them nutritionally.
